2017 was the vintage we gave another try to hárslevelű given that our old vines were producing vivacious ripe bunches. Steel tank fermentation combined with proprietary local yeast resulted in a truly citrus-forward, crisp hárslevelű with pronounced grapefruit aromas and characteristic hints of elegant loess—a signature of true Tarcal terroir. In my opinion, hárslevelű is poised for success inasmuch as furmint is; it is no surprise that it has become the second signature varietal of Tokaj wine region. I recommend trying this wine with poultry and lighter dishes: salads and appetizers especially.
